The journaling reads:
Finally!!
Graduating at 31 yrs old...
I say that as if i want to leave. Could anything be further
from the truth? A lot of the young women do not recognize this place as the real world, but i do. I have been happy in this real world and will miss it. I hope i can return someday. In the meantime, i now have my first “degree”; i wonder if it will make any difference to the world? Will it be my only degree or just first of many? Wishful thinking, i suppose, but then, look where that last wishful thought led me... Gotta go pack: have to be out of my dorm room by noon tomorrow...
The little note reads:
chisolm what did
she mean when she
said that
Gwen going to philly get
her to record CB Xmas or
play one more time
addresses: nicole, jean, michele, barbara, uhaul
phone number so tired...
Shirley Chisolm was speaker at our Baccalaureate Service the morning of Commencement. She was a visiting professor during my last year and for a couple of years after. I used to see her walking to campus in the morning...
As i was wandering among the many, many freebies that we are so privileged to receive, i came across a lovely, word art freebie that had a saying attributed to Gandhi. I wanted to use it on my page, but was not able to be in touch with the designer in time to include the changed design on the page. However, i want to share the paraphrased quote with you: I was graduating from a women's college and having things addressed to me as a woman puts things in a context that some do not understand. Yet, that context is meaningful to me:
A woman is but the product of her thoughts...what she thinks...she becomes...--GANDHI (paraphrased).
OK, i think that's enough chatter for today. Thanks for stopping by and listening!
